Worth it?
Count on a full day. The path is cut into the rock face of the Cares gorge, runs through tunnels with rock-cut windows and links Poncebos with Caín over about 11 km. Plan for roughly 3 hours each way, so the out-and-back is long unless you arrange transport at the far end. It is free, and creators describe mountain views at every step. Ideal for anyone visiting the Picos de Europa with decent legs.
Before you go
- Decide early whether to walk one way or return; each direction takes about 3 hours.
- Start from either Poncebos or Caín, the villages at each end.
- Look out for the tunnels with windows cut through the rock.
- Add Bulnes, another Picos stop on the list, if you have a second day.

- Spectacular views of the 'Divine Gorge'
- Path carved directly into the rock face
- Passes through tunnels with rock-cut windows
