Where to Eat in Málaga, According to TikTok
Málaga on TikTok is a food city, and a cheap one. The most posted place is El Capricho, a stall inside the Mercado Central de Atarazanas where, according to the posts, people line up for a roast pork or crispy pork belly sandwich at 6 euros. Second is El Tintero on the beach at El Palo, a restaurant with no menu where waiters walk around shouting what is on their trays.
The rest of the list fills out a day of eating. Fortified wine poured from the barrel at Antigua Casa de Guardia, vermouth and empanadas at La Tranca, and sardine espetos grilled over an open fire at Aquí Te Espero, a short way east along the coast in Rincón de la Victoria. Nothing here is expensive.

In the center: market, wine bar and vermouth
The Mercado Central de Atarazanas is a 19th-century iron-and-glass hall entered through a 14th-century Nasrid shipyard arch, with seafood, cheese, bars frying pescaíto and El Capricho's sandwich counter; seating is limited, so plan to take it away. Antigua Casa de Guardia on the Alameda Principal is standing room only, with Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel from the cask, prawns and mussels, and your tab chalked on the bar. La Tranca on Calle Carretería pours house vermouth among old album covers and sing-alongs; it takes no reservations, so the creator says arrive early.
On the beach: El Tintero and espetos
At El Tintero everything is cooked over charcoal and auctioned at the table. Say yes or no as the trays go past, and at the end the waiters count your empty plates to make the bill. Further along the coast, Aquí Te Espero sits at the edge of the old fishing quarter of Rincón de la Victoria and grills espetos, sardine skewers, on the beach; the creator calls it a local classic. Both are moderately priced and right on the beachfront.
Good to know
There is no menu. Waiters walk between the tables calling out the dishes on their trays, and you say yes or no. The seafood is cooked over charcoal, and when you finish, the staff count your empty plates to work out the bill. The restaurant is on the beach in El Palo.
