Things to Do in Vielha e Mijaran and the Val d'Aran
The places saved around Vielha are mostly outdoors and mostly high up. Three are water: the picnic reservoir of Bassa d'Arres at 1,560 meters, the snowmelt waterfall of Cascada de Molières, and Estany Major de Saboredo, a glacial lake at 2,340 meters on the Carros de Foc circuit. Three are villages of stone and slate, and two cover dinner and a bed.
Seen together, the list maps the valley from end to end. Bossòst sits on the Garonne toward the French side; Salardú and Tredòs are up the valley near the Baqueira-Beret ski area. Nobody left tips on these places, so the facts below are taken from their listings.

Lakes and waterfalls by difficulty
Bassa d'Arres is the gentle one: you can drive the dirt track from Arres de Sus, there are stone picnic tables and barbecues, and an easy trail leads to the old Mina Victòria with views of the Aneto massif. Cascada de Molières is a 2 to 3 hour round-trip hike, loudest during the spring thaw, and it doubles as the start for the Tuc de Molières summit. Estany Major de Saboredo is for experienced hikers, part of the Circ de Saboredo and reached on trails from the Ruda Valley.
Three Aranese villages
Bossòst has a 12th-century Church of the Assumption, the Eth Grauèr promenade along the river and Gascon-influenced houses, and works as a base for hiking and cycling. Salardú keeps pieces of its medieval walls, the Portal of Pallars and the Church of Sant Andreu, and sits 4 km from Baqueira Beret. Tredòs, a high village nearby, has the Romanesque Santa Maria del Cap de Tredòs, the old Banhs de Tredòs thermal spa and access to the Colomers lakes in Aigüestortes National Park.
Where to eat and stay
Fandango Baqueira, in a stone building at Mòla de Salardú, serves rice dishes and a signature chuletón ribeye by the fireplace, and turns into an après-ski terrace with DJs in season. Prices are moderate. The Parador de Vielha is the luxury option, a four-star hotel with a round glass-walled restaurant serving Aranese dishes like olla aranesa, a spa with indoor and seasonal outdoor pools, and easy access to Baqueira-Beret.
Good to know
Hiking dominates the list. Cascada de Molières is a 2 to 3 hour round trip to a waterfall, Bassa d'Arres is an easy picnic reservoir reached by dirt track, and Estany Major de Saboredo is a high glacial lake on the Carros de Foc circuit for experienced hikers. The villages of Bossòst, Salardú and Tredòs fill the gaps between walks.
