Thailand on TikTok: Bangkok Eats, Khao Sok and Islands

Half of the 18 Thai places are Bangkok restaurants and bars, and they are listed under district pages rather than one city page: Vadhana and Pathum Wan have three each, Samphanthawong two and Sathon one. The food runs from a 24-hour red pork rice shop to omakase and natural wine.

Outside the capital, the most posted place is Khao Sok National Park, with two posts; the park takes in rainforest, limestone karsts and Cheow Lan Lake. The rest are single places: Koh Tao for diving, the all-white Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai, a viewpoint on Ko Samui and a misty waterfall park in Chiang Mai province.

Bangkok street food and late nights

Jeh O Chula in Pathum Wan is the famous one: Tom Yum Mama noodles loaded with seafood and crispy pork, a Michelin Bib Gourmand and long queues. Its record notes the Mama noodles are usually served from 11 PM and suggests booking through Klook. On Banthat Thong Road in the same district, Louis Vanich specializes in raw shrimp and oyster dishes. In Talat Noi, Si Morakot serves Khao Moo Daeng, red pork rice with crispy pork, around the clock at cheap prices, with outdoor seating and dogs welcome.

Wine bars, bowls and brunch

The sit-down side of Bangkok leans toward small, intimate rooms. Charmkrung is a Thai wine bar on the sixth floor of a 1950s building in Talat Noi, with inventive small plates and natural wine. In Vadhana, Chenin on Sukhumvit 31 runs a rotating menu with chef pop-ups, CHUNN serves steak donburi bowls with soy-pickled egg yolk (reservations recommended), and Larder BKK is a bakery and charcuterie where the post points to the Tuna 3000. Fran's in Sathon is a glasshouse brunch spot known for bacon toast, and Kimi Nomu does edomae-style omakase.

Lakes, islands and temples

In Khao Sok, 500 Rai Floating Resort puts villas on Chiew Larn Lake, reachable only by boat from Chiew Larn Pier, with kayaking and long-tail boat safaris. Koh Tao is posted for scuba diving, and one creator calls their open water certification the favorite thing they did, with instructors who made them feel safe. Lamai Viewpoint on Ko Samui has a giant hand sculpture, a cable car and a zipline. Wat Rong Khun has a bridge over sculpted reaching hands, and Dantewada Land of Angels in Mae Taeng is a man-made waterfall park kept misty with dry ice, at 80 THB entry.

Good to know

Late. Its record says the signature Tom Yum Mama noodles are typically served from 11 PM. Expect long queues; the record suggests booking through Klook. It is on Charat Mueang Alley in Pathum Wan and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Louis Vanich, on Banthat Thong Road in the same district, is another seafood stop nearby.
