Czechia From TikTok: Prague's Duck, Pork and Kafka

Every one of the 11 Czech places on MapDreamy is in Prague, and the site splits them by district: New Town has 4, Old Town 2, Hradčany and Malá Strana one each, and 3 more sit on the general Prague page. The most posted is the Head of Franz Kafka, David Černý's rotating mirrored sculpture outside the Quadrio shopping mall.

Most of the remaining ten are about eating meat: charcoal-grilled duck, pork knuckle, house-made dumplings, two butcher shops with their own kitchens. Three restaurants carry the same short note from creators, book ahead. For sightseeing between meals, the posts add the Art Nouveau Obecní dům by the Powder Tower and Vrtbovská zahrada, a terraced Baroque garden on the slope of Petřín Hill.

Duck, pork knuckle and dumplings

Hostinec na Výtoni cooks duck over charcoal in a Josper rotisserie inside the old Podskalská Customs House, with garden seating from April to October. Pork's, near Charles Bridge in Malá Strana, is known for pork knuckle with crispy skin. U Kroka, a family-run place near Vyšehrad, does pork knee in dark lager and bacon-wrapped rabbit loin, with a vegetarian menu too. Those are the three to book ahead. At Prague Castle, Kuchyň in the Salmovský Palace cooks from 16th-century recipes, with a terrace view and tank beer. Kantýna and Naše maso are butcher shops where you can eat on site, and Restaurace Hybernská serves ribs, dumplings and tank pilsner.

Between meals

The Head of Franz Kafka is free to see, and one creator suggests going by day or early evening so the panels reflect the sky. Obecní dům, a concert hall and event venue, stands beside the Powder Tower at the start of the Royal Route. Vrtbovská zahrada, on Karmelitská street in Malá Strana, has sculptures by Matyáš Bernard Braun, a frescoed sala terrena and views over St. Nicholas Church and Prague Castle. For coffee, Café Café on Rytířská in the Old Town has an unusual interior and recommends reserving the main room.

Good to know

Creators say to book ahead at Hostinec na Výtoni, Pork's and U Kroka, and Café Café recommends reservations for its main room. The other records do not mention booking. Kuchyň at Prague Castle is described as relaxed and Restaurace Hybernská as casual, good for a quick lunch or a beer.
