Restaurants in Czechia From TikTok: Prague Duck, Pork and Dumplings

All seven of these restaurants are in Prague, and all come from a single post: 'Where to eat in Prague, save these 9 dishes and exactly where to find them'. That makes the list unusually focused. It is mostly classic Czech cooking, with roast duck, pork knuckle, ribs, dumplings and tank Pilsner, plus two butcher shops where you can eat on site.

The places spread across the center: three in New Town, one at Prague Castle in Hradčany, one in Old Town, one by Charles Bridge in Malá Strana and one near Vyšehrad. Every place sits at a moderate price level. The creator's short note for three of them is the same, 'Book ahead', which is worth taking seriously at Pork's and the duck house on the river. For more of the city, see the Prague page.

Where creators go

  1. Hostinec na VýtoniRestaurant · New Town

A Czech restaurant in the old Podskalská Customs House on the Rašínovo embankment in New Town, built around charcoal-grilled duck from a Josper rotisserie. Gault & Millau lists it, and the garden opens April to October. The creator's advice is two words: book ahead.

  2. Pork'sRestaurant · Malá Strana

A pork-focused restaurant on Mostecká in Malá Strana, steps from Charles Bridge. The signature is roast pork knuckle with crispy skin, with pulled pork and potato salad alongside. Casual and hearty, and another place where the creator says to book ahead, which makes sense on a street this central.

  3. U KrokaItalian Restaurant · Prague

A family-run restaurant on Vratislavova near Vyšehrad, with exposed brick and a patio. The menu is traditional Czech: pork knee roasted in dark lager, bacon-wrapped rabbit loin and pork cheeks in red wine, plus a separate vegetarian menu. Book ahead, per the creator. A good dinner after walking Vyšehrad.

  4. KuchyňRestaurant · Hradčany

A restaurant in the Salmovský Palace on Hradčany Square at Prague Castle, cooking Czech recipes inspired by 16th-century cookbooks. The terrace looks over the city, and the beer is fresh from the tank. Useful when you are at the castle and do not want to walk down to eat.

  5. Naše masoStreet Food Stall · Old Town

A butcher shop and eatery in the Gurmet Pasáž Dlouhá in Old Town, working with meat from Czech farms and traditional methods. Butcher's dishes are cooked on site, with smoked meats and broths, and you can buy to take away or eat there. Good for a quick, meat-heavy lunch.

  6. KantýnaRestaurant · New Town

A butcher shop and restaurant on Politických vězňů in New Town, from the Ambiente group, set in a historic building. You eat freshly prepared meat dishes with draught Pilsner Urquell. A busier take on the butcher-shop idea than Naše maso.

  7. Restaurace HybernskáRestaurant · New Town

A casual Czech restaurant on Dlážděná in New Town, serving ribs, house-made dumplings and desserts, with tank Pilsner and cocktails. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are on the menu. An easy lunch or beer stop, with less planning than the bookable places.

Butcher shops you can eat in

Two of the seven are butcher shops first. Naše maso in the Dlouhá food passage is the smaller, craft-focused one, with smoked meats, broths and products to take home. Kantýna in New Town is busier, pairing its butcher shop with Pilsner Urquell on draught. Both suit a lunch where the meat is the whole point.

Good to know

One creator's Prague dish guide covers Hostinec na Výtoni for charcoal-grilled duck, Pork's for crispy pork knuckle, U Kroka for pork knee in dark lager, Kuchyň at Prague Castle, Restaurace Hybernská for ribs and dumplings, and the butcher shops at Naše maso and Kantýna.
