UK From TikTok: Edinburgh, London and the Highlands

The Scott Monument is the most posted place in the UK set, with five posts, and Edinburgh has the largest city page at seven places. London has more places in total, but they are filed by neighborhood: London, South Kensington, Holborn, City of London, King's Cross, Fulham and Balham each have their own page.

The third strand is mountains. Glenfinnan Viaduct, where the Jacobite steam train crosses 21 arches, has three posts, and Fort William holds two ridge walks. In the Lake District, Windermere adds Gummer's How, a short hill walk described as a family-friendly starter mountain. The remaining places are almost all about food, coffee and sightseeing in the two big cities.

Edinburgh's seven

Climbing the Scott Monument means 287 spiral steps to a platform with views across the city, and it takes cards only. Victoria Street is a curving cobblestone lane of colorful 19th-century fronts linking George IV Bridge to the Grassmarket. Dean Village is a former milling village down in a valley on the Water of Leith. The Milkman on Cockburn Street pours specialty coffee in an 1859 shopfront, with a caramel brownie cappuccino on the menu. The Hub, at the top of the Royal Mile, is home to the Edinburgh International Festival, and Zizzi on Queensferry Street, a casual Italian spot, has three posts.

London, by neighborhood

Food carries the London posts. In Holborn, Swiss Butter smothers beef, chicken or salmon in a secret herb butter with unlimited fries; the creator stresses the price is £19.95 and warns about queues. Happy by Piccadilly Circus is recommended for cheeseburger spring rolls and carbonara finished in a Parmesan wheel before the theater. Hawksmoor St. Pancras serves steak in a Gothic Revival hotel, and Ibai grills aged beef over fire. For sightseeing, Tower Bridge has glass-floor walkways on timed tickets, and the Natural History Museum's main galleries are free, though the post notes some exhibits can be off display.

Highland ridges and a Lakeland hill

The Glenfinnan Viaduct is free to view from the valley and is known as a Harry Potter filming location. Near Fort William, Aonach Eagach is the serious one: the narrowest scrambling ridge on the British mainland, with the Crazy Pinnacles, Grade 2 scrambling and real danger in bad weather. One creator chose Am Bodach instead of the full ridge and rates the views 10/10, especially at sunrise. For something gentler, Gummer's How is a 1.5-mile round trip to a 321-meter summit with views over Windermere and a free car park.

Good to know

The climb is 287 steps up a spiral staircase, and the panoramic views come from the third floor. Payment is card only. The monument stands in East Princes Street Gardens and includes a Museum's Room about Sir Walter Scott's life. It is the most posted UK place in this set, with five posts.
