Restaurants in Greece From TikTok: Tavernas, Seafood and Souvlaki
Athens and Chania supply most of the restaurants here, and the islands supply the views. In Athens the videos go underground and into back yards: basement tavernas by the Central Market and in Pangrati, a courtyard behind a graffiti-covered door in Psirri, old-school gyros on Spintharou. Chania's places line the old harbor and the lanes behind it, where creators order shrimp saganaki and Cretan salad.
On the islands, the camera points at the water. Creators eat in Plaka and on the shore at Klima and Mandrakia on Milos, order tomato fritters with a caldera view in Firostefani on Santorini, walk down from Kastro on Sifnos to a zero-waste kitchen on the rocks, and eat lamb from the farm at a taverna on Andros. Only Atlantikos has more than one mention. Most places are Moderate, with souvlaki and one Athens basement at the Cheap end.

Where creators go
- Atlantikos
The only restaurant in Greece with two posts here, and one creator calls it the most viral seafood restaurant in the country. Atlantikos, on Avliton Street in Athens, serves Aegean meze and fresh catches in a simple, clean room. Order the mussels saganaki, garlic anchovies or fava topped with marinated anchovies; one creator calls the dakos the best tomato dish they have eaten. Arrive early, as queues run long.
- Diporto
Diporto is a basement tavern beside the Athens Central Market with no visible sign over the door. The posts describe a meal that usually includes fava dip, chickpea stew and grilled sardines, with house wine, in a room that feels like an old kitchen. A creator suggests arriving early, around breakfast, to beat the tourist crowds. Price level: Cheap.
- Achilleas
Achilleas is the gyros stop in Athens: one creator's series calls it the most famous gyros in the city, made the old-school way by hand. It is a no-frills souvlaki and gyro joint on Spintharou with a loyal local following. Plan the day, because it closes on weekends and does not deliver; the owners want food served hot to walk-in customers.
- Arismari
On Akti Kountourioti in Chania's Old Port, Arismari serves what it calls creative Cretan cuisine. The note is short and firm: the shrimp saganaki is a must. It appears in a creator's updated list of where to eat in Chania, and it shares the quay with Amphora Restaurant, another harbor table on this page, where a creator came for the food and stayed for the views.
- Astakas
Astakas sits on the water in Klima, the colorful fishing village on Milos. A creator's guide to the island frames it as a sunset dinner and says to order the stuffed squid. The menu runs to seafood platters, fried squid, steamed clams and handmade pasta, with the sun going down over the Aegean. Price level: Moderate.
- Aktaion
Aktaion has been a family-run restaurant in Firostefani on Santorini since 1922, with caldera views from the terrace and artworks by owner Vaggelis Roussos on the walls. The kitchen sticks to traditional Cycladic and Aegean dishes, and it is known for tomato fritters and fava bean dip. It appears in a post titled tomatoes and feta in every form.
- Cantina
Cantina is built onto the rocks of Seralia beach below the old village of Kastro, on Sifnos according to the post that features it. It runs a seasonal, zero-waste kitchen: bread with smoky pumpkin ketchup, smoked eggplant mousse, marinated fish in Greek salad juice, and 17 wines by the glass. Expensive. The creator's suggestion is to walk down from Kastro and eat by the sea.
- Kossis
Kossis is a grill taverna on a working farm at Kato Fellos on Andros, with horses on site, rustic outdoor tables and wide Aegean views. The meat comes from its own animals, including lamb chops and slow-roasted goat. The creator's advice is to try the lamb and the local specialties, and reservations are recommended.

Chania: harbor tables and old town lanes
Most of the detailed Chania places come from one creator's updated list of where to eat in the city, a list the creator says was chosen for outstanding service.
- Neoria Fish Tavern on Akti Enoseos, by the Venetian shipyards: grilled fish and a seafood feast, with complimentary desserts.
- Manos Taverna on the Akti Papanikoli waterfront: a creator calls the Cretan salad out of this world.
- Canale in the Old Harbor: fine dining with handmade pasta and Cretan wines. Order the Cretan salad with the rusks on the side. Expensive, and reservations are recommended.
- Kritamon on Kondilaki: Cretan food and wine pairings, plus a shop selling olive wood, ceramics and honey.
- Kafeneio Fix on 1821 Square in Splantzia: outdoor tables under plane trees, called well priced and delicious.
More of Athens
Avli hides in a yard behind a graffiti-lined door in Psirri; the dishes are small, so order several to share, and use GPS because the entrance is easy to miss. Evgenia on Voulis is a family-run ouzeri with stuffed vine leaves, moussaka, octopus and stewed chickpeas. Marathonitis Tavern is a Pangrati basement serving meat since the 1950s, where the order is lamb chops and feta three ways. For a change from Greek food, Birdman grills yakitori and pours highballs in a downtown alley, with analog music from a vinyl collection.
Heraklion, Milos and Thessaloniki
In Heraklion, Apiri is an all-day bistro for contemporary Greek food and aged spirits, and a creator rates its sauces highly, while Kalamaki Meat Bar serves what the same post calls the best pita wrap of the trip, late into the night. On Milos, Archontoula in Plaka is a long-lunch taverna with a spicy seafood pasta, and Medusa in Mandrakia brings octopus, feta-stuffed sausage, tyrokafteri and buttered shrimp to the water's edge. In Thessaloniki, Knisa is a new meat restaurant where the creator singles out beef tartare with truffle mayo and a seasonal fig cheesecake.
Good to know
Atlantikos in Athens is the only restaurant on this page with two creator mentions, and one post calls it the most viral seafood restaurant in Greece. Everything else has a single mention, so the rest of the list is a spread of individual finds. Expect queues at Atlantikos; the notes say to arrive early because it draws a lot of visitors.
