Munich Restaurants From TikTok, Tacos to Pork Knuckle

Munich's restaurant list from creators has 38 entries, and the most posted is not a beer hall but a taqueria. Taqueria con Salsa, inside the FAT CAT cultural center, leads with three posts for its birria and handmade tacos, ahead of the izakaya J-Bar, Khanittha's Thai street food in the Werksviertel and the halal smash burgers at Smash It. Pork knuckle and a beer garden are here too, next to tartines, pho and Korean fried chicken.

Most places are moderately priced. The cheap end is a set of quick meals one creator rated out of ten, from kebab to pilav, and the top end is LES DEUX near the Frauenkirche, with a Michelin-starred room upstairs and a brasserie below. French cooking takes a large share, from moules frites in Haidhausen to a six-table bistro on Westendstraße. J-Bar is cash only, while Taqueria con Salsa and 89Anju take cards only.

Where creators go

  1. Taqueria con SalsaMexican Restaurant

Handmade tacos and slow-cooked beef birria, with a vegan birria as well, served inside the FAT CAT cultural center. One post recommends the carnita de suadero, and the owners' own videos talk about building a community and a home-like place. It is card only. They announced they would leave Rosenheimer Straße 5 by September 2026 and reopen elsewhere, so check the current address before going.

  2. J-BarJapanese Restaurant

A compact izakaya on Maistraße where locals and expats gather for Japanese pub food and drinks. The menu highlights are frozen beer and tako nigiri. It is cash only and takes no reservations, so bring euros and walk in. Two creators include it in lists of their Munich favorites, one of them a seasonal round-up.

  3. Khanittha im WerksviertelThai Restaurant

Thai street food on Atelierstraße in the Werksviertel, with colorful seating, night market energy inside and outdoor seats as well. Sauces are homemade and the kitchen uses no pre-made products or flavor enhancers; the spring rolls are rolled by hand. One video features a seafood boil at 39€ per person, with a note about reserving.

  4. Smash It!Burger Shop

A small burger shop on Gebsattelstraße in Haidhausen, using 100% halal beef for its smashed patties. The creator who scores Munich meals out of ten gave the smash burger 12/10, and another post praises a fried chicken burger made with fresh ingredients. Service is quick and there are no frills, so it suits a fast lunch.

  5. Haxnbauer im ScholastikahausRestaurant

Pork knuckle in a renovated 14th-century building on Tal, near Marienplatz. The post that put it here is about Mondays, when a Bavarian all-you-can-eat menu called 'Hau nei, so vui wie Du schaffst' brings an assortment of starters, mains and desserts. On any other day, order the Haxe, the dish the house is named for.

  6. Bavarian Deli CompanySandwich Shop

A New York-style deli on Orlandostraße, near the Hofbräuhaus, that puts Bavarian comfort food into sandwiches. The post recommends the Bavarian birria with roast pork and sauerkraut, and the Kartoffelknödel Pommes, potato dumpling fries topped with truffle. A mortadella sandwich is on the menu too. It is grab-and-go, handy between sights in the old town.

  7. Coup de CœurFrench Restaurant

Six tables and a set menu on Westendstraße. Diners choose vegetarian, fish or meat, and each menu runs from appetizer through main and cheese to dessert, with wine pairings that include non-alcoholic options. Dishes shown include truffle ricotta nocken, octopus and lemon tart. The only post about it is labeled as an ad, so weigh it accordingly.

French bistros and brasseries

Chez Fritz in Haidhausen is a Parisian-style brasserie with moules frites, fresh oysters, bouillabaisse and a terrace, and booking ahead is recommended. Petit Fritz, from the same creator's list, serves tartines and lobster on toast on Hohenzollernstraße without the need for reservations, plus weekend breakfast from 08:00 to 11:00. Brasserie OskarMaria sits inside the Literaturhaus München with a large terrace and seasonal regional cooking with French touches.

Bavarian classics

Max Emanuel Brauerei in Maxvorstadt has a large beer garden under century-old chestnut trees and serves Krustenbraten and Kaiserschmarrn; it is known as a relaxed alternative to the tourist-heavy beer halls. Near the Viktualienmarkt, Beim Sedlmayr offers a 3-course surprise menu for 39€ in vegetarian, meat or fish versions, with wine pairing for 10€ more. Ciao Chang mixes the two cuisines, serving Japanese-Bavarian tapas in a former traditional pub.

One creator's scorecard

Posts by one creator rate Munich meals out of ten, and four of the rated spots are on this page. Smash It took 12/10. NARA Holzkohle Grill, a cheap charcoal kebab grill on Leopoldstraße, scored 10/10, Opa's Pilav on Berg-am-Laim-Straße got 9/10 for its Turkish rice dishes, and the pizza at Bono, also on Leopoldstraße, got 8/10.

Good to know

Taqueria con Salsa leads with three posts, at least one of them from the owners themselves. J-Bar, the cash-only izakaya on Maistraße, Khanittha im Werksviertel with its Thai street food, and the halal burger shop Smash It each have two. The remaining restaurants on the page come from a single post, often a creator's list of favorites.
