Sights in Spain From TikTok: Gaudí, the Basque Coast and Mallorca
The north of Spain carries this list. Four places come from the Basque Country: the Guggenheim in Bilbao, the hermitage of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Chillida's Peine del Viento in San Sebastián and his sculpture park, Chillida Leku, near Hernani. Cantabria and Asturias add the Altamira museum and the medieval bridge in Cangas de Onís. Barcelona supplies three Modernista buildings plus Montserrat as a day trip.
Mallorca is the outlier, with two lighthouses from the same road trip video. Prices split clearly: the outdoor sights are free, the Barcelona buildings and museums moderate, and the Sagrada Família and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao expensive. Two places come with booking notes, the Guggenheim for advance tickets and Gaztelugatxe for a free permit you must reserve online.

Where creators go
- Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Frank Gehry's titanium-clad museum in Bilbao, the most posted sight here with three videos, often as part of a Basque food trip. Inside is Richard Serra's steel installation The Matter of Time. Outside stand Louise Bourgeois's spider Maman and Jeff Koons's flower-covered Puppy, which one creator says not to miss. Advance online booking is recommended.
- San Juan de Gaztelugatxe
An islet off the coast near Bermeo, with a hermitage reached by a 241-step stone staircase. Entry is free, but you need a permit booked online in advance, a point both the record and the creator stress. It sits on the same Bilbao itinerary as the Guggenheim, so the two make a natural pairing. Wear shoes for steps and wind.
- Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família
Gaudí's unfinished basilica on Carrer de Mallorca in Barcelona, listed as the tallest church in the world and the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church. It appears in a '14 places to visit in Barcelona' video with Casa Batlló and the Palau. The price level is expensive, so decide early whether to go inside or admire it from the street.
- Casa Batlló
Gaudí's house on Passeig de Gràcia, with a roof shaped like a dragon's back and a trencadís mosaic facade. Inside, an augmented reality visit tells the story, and the record notes it was Gaudí's last original residence. Moderate in price, and on the same Barcelona list as the Sagrada Família.
- Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey
A Benedictine abbey high on Montserrat, about an hour from Barcelona, home to the Black Virgin and the Escolania boys' choir. The creator booked a £50 GetYourGuide tour that covered a guide, return transport from Barcelona, basilica entry and the cogwheel train. A good option if you would rather not plan the trains yourself.
- Peine del Viento
Three steel sculptures by Eduardo Chillida bolted into the rocks at the end of San Sebastián's bay, below Mount Igeldo. Waves push water up through holes in the rock, so on a rough day the site shoots spray like a geyser. It is free and open, and features in a San Sebastián cheat sheet from creators who spent a month there.
- Museo Nacional y Centro de Investigación de Altamira
The Altamira museum near Santillana del Mar in Cantabria, where the Neocave reproduces the famous prehistoric paintings. The post calls them 40,000-year-old paintings, and the exhibits cover Paleolithic art and human evolution. Moderate price, and a solid reason to add Cantabria to a northern route.

Two Mallorca lighthouses
Both come from the same Mallorca road trip video and both are free. Faro de Capdepera near Cala Ratjada sits on a cliff at the end of a narrow, winding road, with sea views and, on clear nights, Menorca on the horizon. Far d'Alcanada near Alcúdia stands on a small islet close to the Roman site of Pollentia and was automated in 1960.
More from the north
Two quieter stops fit a northern road trip. Chillida Leku near Hernani, inland from San Sebastián, sets Chillida's monumental sculptures across an 11-hectare park around a restored farmhouse, which pairs well with the Peine del Viento. The Puente Romano de Cangas de Onís in Asturias is a medieval bridge with a high central arch over the Sella, free to walk and pictured on the town's coat of arms.
Good to know
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao leads with three posts in this set. The rest have one each, including San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, the Palau de la Música Catalana, Montserrat, the Peine del Viento in San Sebastián and the Altamira museum in Cantabria.
