Chania Restaurants From TikTok: Harbor Tavernas and Old Town Tables
Seven of the 13 Chania restaurants on this page come from one creator's updated list of where they would eat in the city, a list its title says is built on outstanding service. The rest arrive from Crete food carousels and a video about a cookhouse that only locals supposedly know. Every place is mentioned once, so the notes are short and specific: a salad, a fritter, a plate of shrimp.
Location splits the list. The Old Venetian Harbor and its waterfront streets, Akti Kountourioti and Akti Enoseos, hold Amphora, Arismari, Salis and Neoria, with Canale on Akti Tompazi and Tamam on Zampeliou. Kondilaki Street has both Kritamon and Taverna Ela, and Tsalikis Seafood is out in Nea Chora. Most places are listed as moderate. Canale and Salis are the two expensive tables, and Patsas Agnos is the cheap one.

Where creators go
- Tamam Restaurant
Tamam occupies a 15th-century Venetian building near the Old Harbour that was once a public bath. The menu crosses Greek, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking, with stuffed vine leaves and spiced lamb as signatures and good vegetarian and seafood options. One creator calls it the favorite restaurant of their trip and insists the zucchini fritters are the dish to order.
- Salis
One of the two expensive restaurants here, on Akti Enoseos in the Old Venetian Harbor, with sea views and a modern Cretan take on Mediterranean food. The post gives a full order: homemade fries with the special seasoning, the fish, prepared and served tableside, and a cucumber salad with basil and ginger. The setting is upscale but relaxed.
- Patsas Agnos - Marmaritsakis Stamatis
A cheap mageirio on Sfakianaki Street serving Cretan home cooking: patsas, the tripe soup in its name, plus moussaka and pastitsio in generous portions. The video that features it claims only locals know about it. Expect a crowd, though: the creator warns that walk-up and takeaway customers make the room chaotic.
- Neoria Fish Tavern
A waterfront fish taverna on Akti Enoseos near the old Venetian shipyards, serving grilled fish and traditional Greek appetizers in generous portions. The creator who posted it was taken with the seafood feast and notes that dessert comes free at the end. Major credit cards are accepted, and it comes from a carousel of tomato and feta dishes across Greece.
- Kritamon
Part wine restaurant, part shop, on Kondilaki Street. The kitchen does Cretan food with Mediterranean influences, the staff know the wine list well, and the shop sells olive wood, ceramics and honey. The creator who listed it calls the food traditional yet modern, with good variety, and one of their favorites in Chania.
- Arismari
Arismari sits on the Old Port at Akti Kountourioti 55 and cooks what it calls creative Cretan cuisine. The post has exactly one instruction, and it is a clear one: order the shrimp saganaki. Amphora is a few doors along the same waterfront if you want to compare two harbor tables in one evening.
- Canale
Fine dining on Akti Tompazi in the old harbor, with a seasonal menu of handmade pasta, local seafood and meats, and a list of Greek and Cretan wines. It is listed as expensive, and reservations are recommended. The creator's tip is a small, practical one: order the Cretan salad with the rusks on the side.
- Tsalikis Seafood
A casual seafood restaurant on Selinou Street in the Nea Chora neighborhood, specializing in fresh catches. Seafood is the point, but the dish the post recommends is the dakos, crunchy bread topped with tomatoes and cheese. Like Neoria, it comes from a carousel built around tomatoes and feta.

Two more tables on the waterfront
Amphora Restaurant at Akti Kountourioti 49 serves local meat, fish and vegetarian dishes with harbor views, and the creator who posted it came for the food and stayed for the views. Manos Taverna on Akti Papanikoli is a traditional taverna by the sea, and the post calls its Cretan salad out of this world.
Away from the water
Kafeneio Fix serves traditional Greek food at outdoor tables under the plane trees of 1821 Square in Splantzia, and the creator describes it as well priced and delicious. Taverna Ela on Kondilaki has a lovely alleyway setting and friendly service, mains around 20 to 25 euros, and closes on Sundays. Ginger on Karaiskaki Street in the historic center stays open all day, from breakfast through dinner.
