Lake Como From TikTok: Varenna, Bellagio and Tremezzo
These nine places are filed under Mandello del Lario, a town on the eastern shore of Lake Como, but none of them is in Mandello itself. They sit across the middle of the lake, in Varenna, Bellagio and the Tremezzina villages, and they are mostly villas and gardens. Villa del Balbianello, on a wooded peninsula near Lenno, is by far the most posted, with seven posts, and its record is firm that online pre-booking is mandatory.
On the Varenna side, Hotel Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero both have botanical gardens running down to the water. In Bellagio, the gardens of Villa Melzi d'Eril open from late March to late October. Over in Tremezzo, one creator stayed at Albergo Villa Edy and enjoyed its breakfast and pool, and another ate at La Locanda Tremezzo so many times that it became their favorite restaurant.

Villas and gardens
Villa del Balbianello, an 18th-century mansion that began as a monastery, is reached by a woodland walk or a taxi-boat from Lenno. Its Loggia Durini looks over the lake, and its record notes it has been a film location for Star Wars and James Bond. Villa Monastero in Varenna, a former 12th-century convent with a two-kilometer lakefront garden and a 14-room house museum, is often preferred over nearby villas for its views and architecture, one post says. Villa Cipressi's gardens can close in part for private weddings and get crowded at peak hours, and Villa Melzi in Bellagio keeps a museum of Napoleonic memorabilia in its old orangery.
Lake towns and where to eat
Varenna's record calls it more tranquil than its neighbors, with steep cobbled streets, the Lover's Walk along the water, the Castello di Vezio above and a ferry hub below. Bellagio sits on the promontory where the lake splits into two branches, with cobbled staircases and ferries to Varenna and Menaggio. Trattoria San Giacomo, on Bellagio's Serbelloni steps, makes its own pasta and desserts. In Tremezzo, La Locanda serves fritto misto and squid-ink tagliolini with lake views, close to Villa Carlotta, and Albergo Villa Edy has a pool, a tennis court and a breakfast porch above the lake.
Good to know
Yes. The villa's record says online pre-booking is mandatory. You reach it on foot through the woods or by taxi-boat from Lenno. Inside is a house-museum with the collections of explorer Guido Monzino, and the Loggia Durini has wide lake views. With seven posts, it is the most posted place on this page.
