Worth it?

For film fans and garden lovers, Balbianello is the Lake Como villa that shows up in creator lists of things to do, and the Loggia Durini view is the shot they come for. Plan it rather than dropping in: online pre-booking is mandatory, and you reach the peninsula on a woodland walk or by taxi-boat from Lenno. Inside, the house-museum holds explorer Guido Monzino's collections.

Before you go

  • Book online before you go; the listing says pre-booking is mandatory.
  • Choose your approach: the woodland walk or a taxi-boat from Lenno.
  • One creator's caption nods to the James Bond connection; the villa was also a Star Wars location.
  • For another garden on the lake, add I Giardini di Villa Melzi d'Eril.

Highlights

  • Iconic Loggia Durini with panoramic lake views
  • House-museum featuring explorer Guido Monzino's collections
  • Famous film location for Star Wars and James Bond
  • Accessible via woodland walk or taxi-boat from Lenno
  • Online pre-booking is mandatory
