Nature in Italy From TikTok: Dolomites, Lake Como and the South

Mountains take up most of this list. Five entries sit in the Dolomites, from the high pasture of Alpe di Siusi and the Seceda ridge above Ortisei to the Cadini di Misurina, Monte Cristallo and the Passo Gardena road. Many of the videos carry one-line captions such as 'foggy dolomites morning' or 'wish i was a cloud', so the footage does the talking.

Lake Como contributes a villa garden in Bellagio and a forested regional park above Como. Further south, the coast takes over with the granite headland of Capo Vaticano in Calabria and a boat-access sea cave in Sardinia. Bologna adds the smallest entry, a window onto a canal on Via Piella. Nearly everything is free, apart from the gardens and the cave tour. Seceda and Alpe di Siusi both have cable cars, which keeps the two most posted views within reach of non-hikers.

Where creators go

  1. Alpe di SiusiMountain · Renon

Europe's largest high alpine pasture, 56 square kilometers of meadow under the Langkofel and Plattkofel, and the most posted nature spot here with three videos. It sits inside the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park, with hiking in summer and skiing in winter. The Seis-Seiseralm cable car gets you up. Free to roam once you are there.

  2. SecedaNatural Landmark · Brixen

The 2,519-meter mountain above Ortisei with the jagged ridgeline creators come for and the Fermeda Towers in view. A cable car from Ortisei does the climbing, and it lies in the Puez-Odle Nature Park. Two posts film it, one of them a hike captioned in German as following in the footsteps of the Bagginses.

  3. I Giardini di Villa Melzi d'ErilBotanical Garden · Mandello del Lario

The English-style gardens of a neoclassical estate on the lakefront in Bellagio, with rare plants, centuries-old trees, a Napoleonic museum in the former orangery and a family chapel. It appears in two 'things to do in Lake Como' videos. Open late March to late October, with a moderate entry price.

  4. Cadini di MisurinaNatural Landmark · Cortina d'Ampezzo

A cluster of jagged spires in the eastern Dolomites, reached from Rifugio Auronzo. The well-known viewpoint is on Trail 117, and the Sentiero Bonacossa route also runs through the group. The post is captioned only with a mountain and a flag, which says enough. Free, but plan for a hike to the viewpoint.

  5. Capo VaticanoNatural Landmark · Tropea

A granite headland on Calabria's Costa degli Dei, near Ricadi, with clear Tyrrhenian water and coves such as Grotticelle and Praia I Focu. The creator's tip: the wild coves are best reached by pedalo, kayak or boat from Grotticelle. There is a lighthouse viewpoint and a train station at Ricadi-Capo Vaticano. Free.

  6. Grotta del FicoCave · Dorgali

A sea cave in the limestone cliffs of Sardinia's east coast, near Santa Maria Navarrese, once home to Mediterranean monk seals. You can only arrive by boat, then a guided tour follows steel walkways along an ancient riverbed, at a steady 18 to 20°C inside. The creator calls it their favorite place on earth.

  7. Finestrella di Via PiellaPhoto Spot · Bologna

A small window at Via Piella 16 in Bologna that opens onto the Canale delle Moline, the view locals call Bologna's 'little Venice'. The creator's tip is to look out for it, since the window is tiny. Free, and a quick stop while you explore the center.

  8. Passo GardenaNatural Landmark · Brixen

The 2,136-meter pass between Val Gardena and Val Badia, linking Sëlva and Corvara, with the Sella massif and the Cirspitzen on either side. Cyclists ride it, hikers start on trail 654, and the post films first light moving across the peaks at sunrise. Free, and reachable by road.

More nature and viewpoints in Italy

Two more Dolomites stops

Monte Cristallo, a 3,221-meter peak listed under Cortina d'Ampezzo, is steep mountaineering terrain, filmed in a post captioned 'wish i was a cloud'. Together with the Cadini di Misurina and the Seceda ridge, it gives a Dolomites trip a mix of easy cable car views and harder hikes.

Lake Como beyond the villas

For a free walk near Como itself, the Ente Parco Regionale Spina Verde at San Fermo della Battaglia has 13 marked trails through hilly forest, views over the lake and the Alps, and the ruins of the medieval Castel Baradello. It turns up in a list of things not to miss in Como city, and pairs well with a lakefront day in Bellagio.

Good to know

Alpe di Siusi is the most posted, with three videos, followed by Seceda with two. The Cadini di Misurina viewpoint on Trail 117, the Passo Gardena at sunrise and Monte Cristallo each appear once. Most are free, and Alpe di Siusi and Seceda both have cable car access.
