Beaches and Lakes in Greece From TikTok: Milos, Crete and Beyond
One Milos guide, "16 essential MILOS experiences", supplies eight of the 23 places on this page, from the white rock of Sarakiniko to coves that only a boat can reach. A September post about neighboring Kimolos adds three more, so the western Cyclades account for nearly half the list. Crete comes next with seven, spread from the Akrotiri peninsula near Chania to the palm-lined river mouth at Preveli on the south coast.
The remaining five are scattered: Fteri on Kefalonia, Vlychada on Santorini, the Blue Caves of Zakynthos, a salt lake on Lemnos and an alpine lake in the Pindus mountains. Almost everything is listed as free, though the Balos listing mentions an entrance fee and the Blue Caves are listed as moderate. Many of these beaches have no facilities, rough roads or steep paths, and the notes keep returning to water, sturdy shoes and supplies.

Where creators go
- Polyaigos
An uninhabited island beside Kimolos, named for its goats, and the most posted place here alongside Seitan Limania. Both creators send you out by boat: one for what they call the clearest water in the Cyclades, the other for a trip around Kimolos and Polyaigos to find coves. There is no other way to reach it than by boat or water taxi.
- Seitan Limania Beach
A narrow cove on Crete's Akrotiri peninsula near Chania, set between steep limestone walls with blue-green water at the bottom. The catch is the way down: a steep 10 to 15 minute hike, and no facilities once you arrive, so carry water. One creator mentions local goats on the rocks. The water is clear enough for snorkeling.
- Sarakiniko Beach
The moon-like white volcanic rock of Milos, where people swim straight off the stone into turquoise water. The Milos guide pitches it for cliff jumping into deep water. The listing calls it a sunrise photo spot and suggests coming early in summer to avoid the crowds. Alogomandra's listing describes itself as the quieter alternative.
- Balos Lagoon
A shallow lagoon with pink-tinged white sand at the northwestern tip of Crete. The creator's tip is to take a tour bus and hike down, which gives you the view from above on the way. You can also come by boat from Kissamos port or on a rough dirt road. It is part of Natura 2000, and an entrance fee goes to upkeep.
- Preveli Beach
A beach on Crete's south coast where a river runs through a palm forest into the Libyan Sea, forming a lagoon at the exit of the Kourtaliotikos Gorge. One creator calls it one of the most unusual spots on the island for that mix of palms, river and sea. Also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenix.
- Papafragas Beach
A narrow sea gorge on Milos with natural arches, sea caves and steep rock walls closing around a small swimming area. The Milos guide's suggestion is to rock jump into it, which tells you the kind of visit it is: a swim among the rock formations rather than a day on the sand. It is listed as free.
- Drakolimni Tymfis
An alpine lake in the Pindus range in Zagori, northern Greece, reached on a challenging hike from Mikro Papigo by way of the Astraka refuge. The video is less about the view than the effort, captioned with the line that the feeling, not the view, was the reward. The listing mentions the mythical folklore attached to the lake.
- Fteri Beach
A white-pebble beach on Kefalonia under pale cliffs, reached only by boat or a steep hiking trail. A map-style post of favorite places in Greece opens with it and calls it maybe the most beautiful beach in the world. There are no facilities, so bring water and your own shade.

Milos beaches beyond Sarakiniko
The rest of the Milos guide covers very different beaches. Firopotamos is a calm cove ringed with whitewashed boathouses, reachable on an asphalt road but short on shade. Tourkothalassa, 300 meters from Mandrakia, has shallow turquoise water and few people according to the creator. Mytakas and Kastanas are rougher: dirt roads, pebbles and a recommendation for water shoes, with red and violet volcanic pebbles at Kastanas. Gerakas on the south coast is boat-only, with white perlite rock and natural sand slides, and at Alogomandra you wade through a rock cave into a shallow inlet.
Kimolos and Crete
On Kimolos, Prassa Beach is the one the creator calls famous for clear turquoise water, with white sand and shelter from the north winds, while Bonatsa has calm, shallow water, tamarisk shade and sunbeds for an afternoon.
Crete's list includes Elafonissi, the pink-sand beach 76 km from Chania where you can wade across the shallows at low tide, and Marathi, an organized beach on Akrotiri with two calm coves, sunbeds and tavernas. Voulolimni near the Chrysoskalitissa monastery is a small natural salt lake for snorkeling, and the Old Venetian Harbour in Chania is on the page as a place to eat Cretan food by the water.
Lakes and caves elsewhere
- Alyki Salt Lake, Lemnos: a seasonal lagoon of about 650 hectares near Kontopouli, visited for flamingos and shelducks.
- Blue Caves, Zakynthos: sea caves near Cape Skinari reached by boat, kayak or canoe; the listing recommends early morning for the light.
- Vlychada Beach, Santorini: dark gray volcanic sand under wind-carved white cliffs on the south coast, next to a small fishing port.
