San Sebastian Restaurants and Pintxo Bars Creators Post on TikTok

Almost every restaurant creators film in Donostia / San Sebastián is really a pintxo bar, and most of them sit a few doors apart in the Parte Vieja, the Old Town. Fermin Calbeton Kalea alone holds five places on this page, and 31 de Agosto Kalea and Arrandegi Kalea add several more. The videos are shot as crawls, and one Italian post title sums up the rhythm: a pintxo here, a glass of txakoli there, ten minutes, then the next bar.

The orders repeat from creator to creator. Sea urchin shows up at Bar Sport, Gandarias and Casa Vergara 1948, grilled foie gras at Bar Sport, Gandarias and Irulegi, and Spanish tortilla at Antonio Bar, Bar Nestor and Juantxo Taberna. Most places are listed as moderate in price. Six are cheap, mostly no-frills counters such as Bar Gorriti and Paco Bueno, and two are expensive: Casa Urola Jatetxea and the steak house La Txuletería del Irati.

Where creators go

  1. Bar SportRestaurant

With 14 mentions, Bar Sport is the most posted place on this page. It is an Old Town pintxo bar on Fermin Calbeton Kalea with sports on the screens and a rowing mural on the wall. Creators come for the hot pintxos: grilled foie gras, crab-stuffed squid and, above all, the sea urchin, which one post describes as a bisque served inside the shell. A natural first stop if you want the bites everyone else is filming.

  2. La Cuchara de San TelmoRestaurant

A modern Basque counter on Santa Korda Kalea with an outdoor terrace, mentioned 12 times. The suckling pig comes up in almost every post, and one creator calls it the best they have had. Razor clams, octopus, pork cheek and kokotxas follow. Posts warn that the menu is seasonal and experimental, so the board changes, and one suggests simply asking the waiter when the choice gets overwhelming.

  3. Gandarias JatetxeaRestaurant

Gandarias on 31 de Agosto Kalea is a restaurant and pintxo bar, and one creator calls it a good starting point for a crawl. The praise goes to the sirloin pintxo, grilled scallops, prawn skewers, sea urchin and uni cream. The catch: one post says the signature txuleta steak pintxo has been overcooked and inconsistent lately, and a post title tells viewers to order their txuleta at Txuleta instead.

  4. GanbaraSeafood Restaurant

It is listed as a seafood restaurant, but the posts are mostly about mushrooms. Ganbara on San Jerónimo is known for wild mushrooms with egg yolk, and creators repeat that it was a favorite of Anthony Bourdain. They also point to the tuna carpaccio, the crab tartlets and the scarlet prawns, with a warning that the prawns are pricey. One creator counted a wait of more than 30 minutes, so come early.

  5. Antonio BarRestaurant

The tortilla stop. Antonio Bar on Bergara Kalea is cheap, cooks to order and is famous for its Spanish omelet. Posts say only two large tortillas are made each day, served from 7 am to 12 pm, and that they sell out quickly; the advice is to arrive early and wait at the bar. The house Igueldo pintxo is the other order people name.

  6. Bar DesyRestaurant

Bar Desy is a cheap pintxo bar on Calle Ronda that creators know for one thing: the burger. It is made with txuleta beef and a creamy cheese sauce in a brioche bun, posts call it exceptionally juicy, and one says the bar sells nearly 200 a day. The cheesecake gets a mention too, alongside classic gildas and txangurro stuffed peppers from the counter.

  7. Bar NestorRestaurant

A small family-run bar on Arrandegi Kalea with two famous orders and a system to match. The tortilla comes out twice a day, cut into slices, and posts say you put your name on the list in person well before it is served, then wait about an hour. The txuleta steak can mean a two-hour wait, which creators still call worth it. Tomato salad and fried Gernika peppers complete the table.

Fermin Calbeton Kalea, one bar after another

If you walk only one street, creators make a good case for this one. Bar Sport is at number 10, and four more places on this page share the same few hundred meters of the Old Town.

  • Bar Goiz-Argi at number 4: the prawn skewer with vinaigrette is one creator's favorite, and the menu runs on English display screens.
  • Jose Mari at number 5: a pintxo tavern that shows up as a regular stop in crawl videos.
  • Casa Urola Jatetxea at number 20: the expensive one, recognized by the Michelin Guide, praised for scallop and lobster pintxos, with an upstairs dining room you book ahead.
  • Fermín Calbetón at number 40: pintxos and txuletas in a relaxed room.

More Old Town counters, one dish each

Several bars appear in the posts for a single, specific bite rather than a full meal.

  • Paco Bueno on Calle Mayor: battered fried shrimp under boxing and sports memorabilia, cheap, with gluten-free options.
  • Bar Gorriti on San Juan Kalea: around since 1921, with mini bocadillos, gildas and cod omelet; one local suggests it for a quick bite before heading deeper into the Old Town.
  • Bar Txepetxa on Arrandegi Kalea: anchovy toasts with toppings like spider crab cream; the one creator who posted it liked the house white and the ham croquettes.
  • Irulegi on 31 de Agosto Kalea: order by number from a menu sheet, and get the chicharrones, which a creator describes as crunchy and salty.
  • Casa Vergara 1948 on Calle Mayor: sea urchin and other seafood pintxos, with views of the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus.
  • Kezon Txiki on 31 de Agosto Kalea: one creator found it underrated and less busy than its neighbors.
  • Juantxo Taberna on Enbeltran Kalea: tortilla and sandwiches that one creator recommends taking to the beach.

Gros, the market and the steak

In Gros, near Zurriola beach, Bodega Donostiarra appears in a post about underrated spots for its medio de bonito tuna sandwich, and Ipotx Taberna takes part in pintxo pote, with ham croquettes, meatballs and an anchovy sandwich for the adventurous. Geralds Bar on Iparragirre Kalea is reservations only, with a rotating menu and a 30 euro set lunch.

For steak, La Txuletería del Irati on Secundino Esnaola Kalea recites its menu instead of printing one. It is expensive: one group of four paid around 200 euros with drinks after accidentally ordering four tomato salads, and their advice is to stick to one or two. Maun Grill Bar inside San Martín Market is the cheaper route to txuleta, and the creator who went also singled out the Basque cheesecake.

Good to know

Bar Sport has the most posts in this set with 14 mentions, followed by La Cuchara de San Telmo with 12, Gandarias Jatetxea with 11 and Ganbara with 9. Antonio Bar, Bar Desy and Bar Nestor have seven each. Most of the top names are on Old Town streets close to each other, so creators usually string them together into a single crawl.
