France From TikTok: Paris Pastry to the Basque Coast
Of the 97 French places in creators' posts, 78 sit in Paris, and the most posted of them lean toward eating, sweets and shopping. The two most posted places in the country could hardly be further apart: Cédric Grolet Opéra, a pastry shop known for flower-shaped pastries, and Mont-Saint-Michel, the tidal island with a medieval abbey on top. Each turns up in four posts.
Outside the capital, the strongest cluster is the French Basque Country. Biarritz comes next with three posts about the town itself, and Saint-Jean-de-Luz has three places of its own. Bayonne, Espelette and Arbonne each have a page too. Chamonix has two places, and the Riviera shows up through a hotel above Saint-Tropez and single places in Cannes and Théoule-sur-Mer.
Where creators eat in Paris
Prices run the full range. At the cheap end, Bouillon Pigalle serves French classics like oeuf mayo, onion soup and bavette frites, and a post says its oeuf mayo won a world championship. Bistrot Victoires, near the Louvre, gets a recommendation for onion soup, steak tartare and duck confit, with a note that the queue moves in about 20 minutes. Pink Mamma is a four-story Italian trattoria with a glass roof up top; the post says to book and order pasta. Saltobar cooks over fire, and its video shows croquettes, grilled prawns and burnt cheesecake. At the top sit the two-Michelin-star Blanc and the truffle menus of La Maison de la Truffe.
Pastry, chocolate and perfume
Sweet stops fill much of the Paris list. Angelina on Rue de Rivoli is posted for its Mont-Blanc and hot chocolate, Berthillon on Île Saint-Louis for dark chocolate ice cream, and Bernachon on Rue de Sèvres for the Palet d'Or, gold-leafed discs of dark chocolate ganache. In Batignolles, Pleincoeur sets its pastries under glass cloches and makes a kouign amann with apples. The shopping posts lean old-fashioned: Oriza L. Legrand is a historic perfumery where one creator recommends the paper incense for the evening, while Bienaimé (perfume) and Astier de Villatte (handmade ceramics) are both in the 1st arrondissement.
Beyond Paris
The Basque posts mix surf, food and old houses. The Biarritz record lists surfing at Côte des Basques, the Rocher de la Vierge footbridge and the Les Halles market. Saint-Jean-de-Luz has the Grande Plage and a coastal path to Pointe de Sainte-Barbe, while Bayonne brings ham, chocolate shops and its own Les Halles. Ainhoa is a village of 17th-century half-timbered houses with red shutters. In Normandy, Mont-Saint-Michel pairs its abbey with narrow, winding streets, and on the Riviera, Althoff Villa Belrose in Gassin looks over the Bay of Saint-Tropez.
Good to know
Cédric Grolet Opéra in Paris and Mont-Saint-Michel lead with four posts each, and Biarritz follows with three. A group of Paris places has two each, including Café de Flore, Église Saint-Sulpice, Pink Mamma, Saltobar and Stellar Paris, along with Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Bayonne on the Basque coast.
