Paris From TikTok: Pastry, Brasseries and Perfume Shops

The most posted place in the creators' Paris is a pastry shop. Cédric Grolet Opéra on Avenue de l'Opéra has four posts; one calls its pain au chocolat the best in Paris, and another says to arrive before 8:30 AM to beat the queue for fresh croissants. Of the 78 Paris places on the site, 37 are restaurants, 15 are shops and 12 are bakeries and dessert spots, with cafés and a few sights making up the rest.

The places with two posts each run from a 1720 perfumery to a space-themed dining room. Oriza L. Legrand near Madeleine sells historic perfumes and scented soaps, and one creator recommends its paper incense for winding down at night. Pink Mamma in Pigalle is four floors of Italian food under a glass roof, and both posts say to reserve. Stellar Paris in the 11th projects ocean or volcano scenes around diners for about 30 euros a head.

Brasseries and bistros

Classic French cooking makes up much of the restaurant list. Bistrot Victoires near the Louvre gets a post for onion soup, steak tartare and duck confit, with a note that the queue moves in about 20 minutes. Bouillon Pigalle is the cheap option, famous for winning the World Oeuf Mayonnaise Championship. Brasserie Bofinger near Bastille has served Alsatian choucroute under a stained-glass dome since 1864, while Brasserie Martin in the 11th is known for spit-roasted chicken and a winter garden. Brasserie Dubillot on Rue Saint-Denis earns its post for the Paris-Brest. For a view, Café Marly sits under the Louvre arcades facing the Pyramid; reservations are recommended.

Chocolate, ice cream and tea rooms

Beyond Grolet, the sweet stops range from tea rooms to ice cream. Angelina on Rue de Rivoli is a Belle Époque tea house known for its Mont-Blanc and Chocolat l'Africain hot chocolate. Berthillon on Île Saint-Louis is listed as cheap, and a creator recommends its dark chocolate ice cream. Bernachon on Rue de Sèvres is famous for the Palet d'Or, gold-leafed discs of dark chocolate ganache. In Batignolles, Pleincoeur displays its pastries under glass cloches and makes a kouign amann with apples. Café de Flore, the 1887 café in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, is posted for hot chocolate, onion soup and croque monsieur.

Shops on Rue Saint-Honoré and nearby

Fifteen of the Paris places are shops, and three of them cluster around Rue Saint-Honoré. Astier de Villatte, at number 173, sells milky-white handmade ceramics, candles and stationery printed in-house. On Rue Saint-Roch, Bienaimé offers perfumes and soaps with staff who walk you through scent notes, and Brigitte Tanaka is a tiny Franco-Japanese shop for handwoven bags and gifts. Across town in the Haut-Marais, 0fr. is an independent bookstore for art and fashion magazines with a small gallery in the back.

Good to know

Cédric Grolet Opéra, the pastry shop and tea room on Avenue de l'Opéra, has the most posts of any Paris place on the site with four. Creators post its flower-shaped fruit pastries and pain au chocolat, and one tip is to arrive before 8:30 AM to avoid the long croissant queue. It is listed as expensive.
